The personal data collected (name, email address, and potentially institutional affiliation and field of expertise) will be used exclusively for:

User registration and management (authors, reviewers, editors, registered readers).
Processes related to the submission, review, and editing of scientific articles.
Communication regarding the journal's editorial management (notifications on article status, calls for papers, academic events).
Generation of journal usage statistics, provided that such statistics do not allow for direct individual identification.

3. Types of Data Collected Identification data: full name, position/institutional affiliation.
Contact data: email address, telephone number (if explicitly requested).
Academic data: field of expertise, research area, publication history (only if available in the author's record or profile).

4. Legal basis and consent

User consent, expressed by accepting this privacy statement upon registration or when using features that require identification.
The necessity of processing data to carry out editorial activities inherent to the UJMD’s academic mission.
The registration process will include a mandatory field: "Yes, I agree to have my data collected and stored in accordance with this journal's privacy statement."

5. Data retention

For the time necessary to fulfill the described purposes.
As long as the user maintains an active account or participates in editorial processes (submissions, reviews, editing).
Subsequently, data may be stored in anonymized form or for historical/archival purposes, provided they are not used for active identification or for purposes other than academic ones.
Users may request the deletion of their account and personal data, unless retention is required by legal obligations, academic regulations, or the need to preserve the journal's editorial history.

6. User rights; authors may, at any time:

Access their registered personal data.
Request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Request the deletion of their account and personal data.
Withdraw their consent for data processing.
Request information on how their data is being used.

7. Data security:

The UJMD adopts appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. This includes:

Use of secure platforms for journal registration and management.
Restricted access to data, limited to authorized editorial staff. Confidentiality agreements with third parties who may access data as part of the editorial management process.

8. Changes to the privacy statement:

This privacy statement may be updated to reflect regulatory, technical, or operational changes regarding the journals. Updated versions will be published on each journal's website, indicating the date of the last modification. Users are advised to review this statement periodically.
